What would you do?
Sorry for the nub post but I'm kinda in the limbo right now.
My friend is going to Vegas and wants to sell his bike for gambling reason (he's an addict).
He wants to sell his bike to me which is a 2001 CBR F4i w/ 14K miles on it.
Has $450 Corbin Seats and $600 (Helmets x2)
He wants $4,000.
The thing is, I dont have the cash for it so if I want to buy it I would need to take out a bank loan. I dont know how to ride a bike that well either.
Should I just wait and not take out that loan, or hop on the deal?
And also is this really a "deal" he's offering on his bike.
Thanks,
-Azn

a) i dont think it's that great of a price, considering it has 14k miles. i'm not sure what the KBB price is on it, but that's my opinion.
b) be a friend and dont support his gambling addiction, by not buying it.

Woops....I bought my 04 R6 off my friend who had a gambling problem. It was a 2004 R6, bone stock, with 1,400 miles. I got it for $5000.
I agree I don't think its really a "great" deal considering mileage. It depends what kinds of rates your going to get on a bank loan, are you sure you want a bike? Are you sure you can afford it? insurance and maintaince. Corbin seats are preatty nice. Look into the same bike in your area and the prices of it...those mods don't make it worth anything more than stock prices really.

forget the fact that it is for a gambling problem. he is obviously gonna sel it anyways. so since the deal doesnt seem that hot offer him a low ball price on it. he sounds like a gambling junkie if he is selling his bike for a vegas trip. offer him like 3k. if he doesnt take it then him problem isnt that bad.
Edit - ohh yea and if u dont want a bike dont buy it. there is nothing worse than making a payment on something u dont really want. dont let his solution be your problem.

Why do people keep saying I dont really want the bike. I really really want the bike, its just that I'm trying to be a little realistic about it.
My girlfriend doesnt want me to get one, I'm a full time college student w/ only a part time job, and I live on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex so I dont really have a place to store it.
I guess I just convinced myself not to buy the bike.
Its kind of funny what Racer28 said b/c I was thinking about that on my way home from work.
I'll see when he comes back from vegas.
Thanks for ya'lls two cents.

yeah, we're not exactly "bro's", we just play poker together.
racer28... if you think like me... YOU should get help
And the bike is legit. We talked.. hes not selling it for gambling purposes...*cough b.s., but most likely I will buy it later down on the road.

to everyone saying it's not that great of a price... find one for better or equal price... Most f1i's I've seen are more expensive... And those miles aren't that much. It pisses me off that people think 16k on a bike is a lot... It really isn't and with care it should last to 100k... with that said I'd hit it for that price but doesn't seem like you really want it... Though like others said maybe offer a little less but taking a loan out for one isn't very fun... I'd pass personally...

I don't think you ride very hard.... There is no way in HELL my bikes would last 100k unless i was rebuilding the engine every 3 years. and replacing every major component on the damn thing. Then again I buy bikes to ride the **** out of them for a year or 2 and then ditch it so someone else can deal with the problems.

nah I don't ride my daily very hard as I think it's kind've foolish on the street. Though I still know people with bikes they've ridden hard and they've lasted that long. Though they did require the replacement of some parts in the tranny but for the most part it was fine. Rebuild the motor here and there and you're good. I know a guy who has a 600rr that he put 20k on in 1 year alone... Now track bike will be a completely diff story...
