I don't have any impact tools, how do get this crank pulley to bust loose?

 

assuming u got a car that has a crank bolt that is 19mm some of the earlier years used a 17mm ,,but since i have no clue on the year i will just assume ,,anyho.....u need a 1/2 drive 19mm 6 point socket preferably an impact socket they don't shatter like some of the thin chrome sockets especially if u use craftman .. a long 1/2 extension and a pry bar ,,,to loosen it you turn counterclockwise ,,you might have to jump on the bar a few times, might have to get a metal pipe to fit over the pry bar to get more leverage and if that fails, get the biggest guy u can find to use all of his weight on it ..if u have the wheel off it will give u more room

Um you left out how to brace the crank to keep it from spinning. Easiest way is to take off the little sheet metal cover over the flywheel on the tranny and jam a screwdriver in the teeth. However...I've been flamed for saying this because in one case a guy (probably a dumbass but who knows) broke off a huge chunk of his bellhousing and the pics were not pretty. The other alternative is to buy a rather expensive single use tool that isolates the crankshaft pulley and keeps it from spinning while you work on the nut. The crank bolt (at least my 96 does) has a slot for a half inch extension but I would NOT use that for loosening the bolt only for rotating the crankshaft for timing belt alighnment etc. If you do it by hand do not use a ratchet to loosen the bolt because most are not made for that amount of torque generated by jumping up and down on a long cheater bar. Trust me, my dad is still fuming for busting his nice extendable one of a kind ratchet trying to get a rusted lug nut off!

I would really suggest finding a buddy or a shop that has air and will loosen it for you. Loosen it up then tighten it moderately by hand before driving it home and then loosen it back up. Air will make your life so much easier but to tighten it you still got to brace the crank to do it right, don't trust the torque from an air gun despite what any tire shop might say!
