oil level low?
sorry the search engine isnt working right now so dont flame me. i just wanted to ask a question that i am unsure of. i ASSUME that oil levels shouldnt change if there isnt a leak. but am i correct? today i checked oil before my girl drove home and the level isnt even present. im surprised it isnt trying to eat up my coolant and heat up. just for knowledge purposes i ask: what else can cause the oil levels to decrease? i know you're tired of seeing me ask dumb questions, but everytime i have a Q to ask,the search engine wants to stall
Either you're leaking it, or burning it. There's no where else to go.
You know the drill: puddles = Leaking, smoke = Burning.
The valve cover can leak a surprising amount of oil over time, and if it leaks on the exhaust manifold, you may not see a puddle.

VTEC can cause a gradually loss of oil as well, if you're in VTEC a lot then the oil level will get low before your next oil change. From what I understand, when your cams enter VTEC the viscocity of your oil changes causing it to burn or evaporate.
other places you could be losing oil from is if your PCV isn't working properly, it can send oil into your intake which in turn burns it off.
If you don't have oil spots where you park the car or you don't see/feel a decent amount of oil on the bottom of the engine, I'd look into my previous suggestion.
