helped revvin9K out and shipped him a pair of new EDM headlights, Filled out about a million forms for it and now they are holding the package at Newark because my o so appreciated friends a US customs (cynical, duh) have invented for me yet another form to fill out:

behold:

IMPORTATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES AND MOTOR VEHICLE EQUIPMENT SUBJECT TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY BUMPER AND THEFT PREVENTION STANDARDS.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????


but all options I can tick on those forms are related to the import of a vehicle, and they are F***ing bloody headlights.....
if I say they conform, I have to attach a statement from the manufacturer, which naturally you don't have.

I could also say they do not comply and are solely for export,.

basically the latter I feel is my only option since the rest requires statements you'll never get.

fedex is closed here untill monday , so hoping you guys would have an answer so I can fax this asap and revvin 9K gets his headlights monday!....

this **** pisses me off so much.........

Wow, good ol' Bill wasn't kidding about his luck. I'm sure they don't have the DOT imprint if its EDM, so either "offroad only" or "export" like you said. I have a feeling they're gonna tax you though.

What kind of infomation have you provided to US Customs already?

In general I have found that the easiest way to get just about anything through customs is to label it as a "prototype", "sample", and/or "pre-production" piece. Depending on what information you have already provided, it might be too late to take this direction for this case though...

fedex told me to fill out the form, but to not tick any box and so I did and faxed it......fingers crossed

 

they need those info, iono why ... just like when i was about to ship my BBK to europe ...

 

If you shipped by fed ex, they should of taken care of customs clearance. Call Fedex and try to takl to their customs brokerage department

I just wanted to publicly(sp?) thank Solsurvivor for getting these headlamps to my house. They arrived today.

Knowing he could have EASILY ran off with the money I sent him, he was a stand up guy and sent me my stuff. I payed a good penny for these lamps and cannot begin o thank you enough for not screwing me over.

judging the nature of my profession and the fact that I on a regular basis have to enter and exit the usa, I suggest you come visit me and eat your heart out......
