Default NRG Tech does it again 10.98@117

Well my car has been going through changes for the past 2 years. I finally get the car back and we went to test and tune at e-town last night for a few shake down runs with the car to see what it does. The car still has weapon r circuit pro coil overs with blown shocks, so we were hoping for the best. Here is the set up and times from last night. Oh yeah, the car caught on fire after i ran my second time on the return trip from the end of the track.

The car made 682whp@29 psi and thats what we were running at the track on 24.5x8x13 m&h's on lensos (99 Civic coupe ex)

This set up:
83mm gsr block w/ darton mid sleeves
cp 9:1 pistons w/ pauter rods
gsr head w/ 01 type r cams
skunk2 valve springs and retainers
ferrea ss .5 oversize valves
jg elderbrock im w/ str 68mm tb
gsr tranny w/ a quaife lsd
act 6 puck w/ act prolite flywheel
full race top mount manifold
precision 1000cc injectors
t3/ t67 H.O. w/ p wheel
tial 44mm wastegate
precision 750hp intercooler
4 inch down pipe
3 inch exhaust
Msd SCI ignition

the first run was:
12.1@132 (bogging off the line and missing 3rd gear 3 times)

the second run was:
(for everybody that hates to read, the 10 sec past was just 1,2,3rd gears and 4th died out with basically no power, only gained 7mph the second half of the track but still went 10.98)

r/t:.557
60:1.816
330:4.828
1/8:7.113
mph:110.82
1000:9.132
1/4:10.981
mph:117.25

we dont know what happend but on the return trip a ball of fire came from underneath the hood. The motor and turbo set up is find but the hood, wiring, grill burnt. Pics of the car are on http://www.nrgtechracing.com, its the black coupe under Kory

1st,2nd, and 3rd gear was perfect to me and when i went to put it in 4th gear the car just died out. It sounded like a fuel or spark problem. I just stayed in it enough to past the 1/4 mile so i could get off the track. The car had alot more in it

Thats whats wierd. I coasted to the last turn for the return trip on the brakes the whole way and when i was on my way back POOF. It sucks but i know that car is capable now which makes all the time and money worth it and makes me wanna keep on going.

Nice set up. You should be trapping 140's once you get your issues worked out.

we dont know the cause of the fire yet, and we wont know till we get the car back to the shop. we have a couple ideas as to what happened. but all of that is speculation at this time. its nothing major, everything is fine and in tact. just the top of the harness is singed.

and as far as the run yes it was only a 10.9 run at 117, im just happy about the 1/8th mile. 110.8mph, on stock struts and 24.5" slicks with 11lbs of air in them cause they were leaking with anything else below that. not to mention this is also is a full body coupe with nothing but the back seats out, with steel hood, trunk and all.

dont worry this car will be back up and running real soon with some suspension work...

for everybody (really just HURTRAMP) that hates to read, the 10 sec past was just 1,2,3rd gears and 4th died out with basically no power, only gained 7mph the second half of the track but still went 10.98. so if anybody thinks thats sad escpecially for a heavy coupe second time down the track please show me you can do better

thanks terry. all we gotta do now is find out what caused the fire and fix the damages. Then its new suspension and some weight reduction. When the trucks were putting out the fire i wanted to die, i thought it was all over b/c nobody actually new the car was on fire except for me so it burned a little bit longer then it should've. When my boy juan got my time slip for me and i saw the 10.98@117 a smile came to my face and all i could think about was fixing it and doing it all over again. Pics will be up soon of the before and after pics of my car. It really doesnt look that bad

the damage is very very minimal, just singed the top of the injector harness, and dizzy wires. the most expensive part that was damaged wa the hood, cowl amd grill on the bumper.
