Default Suggestions on Upcoming Turbo Project? NEED HELP

I'm planning on getting a 1990-1993 Integra RS, LS, or GS. This project is gonna be cheap cheap cheap and I'm not looking to spend more than $5000 CND on this entire project including the vehicle.

My horsepower goals are simple. I'm just looking to run little boost that will be safe and reliable but have a bit of power when I need it. Just a fun little car that's all I want.

I'm thinking:

$2000 for the car
$2000 for a turbo kit
$1000 for miscellaneous items

Am I being to convservative with my budget build?

Anybody running SSAUTOCHROME TURBO KITS? These kits are so cheap! If yes, how are they?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1

What size of turbo would be good for my application? (~200hp)
Can a cheaper more fully complete turbo kit be peiced together?
How are reliability issues?
What other components would I need? (DSM injectors, Safc, etc... what else?)
Clutch?

I'm not looking to break the bank so if anybody has any suggestions on what would be a good route for me, it'll be greatly appreciated.

Thanks 2ners

DA = good

SSauto = bad

Look into a revhard turbo kit, or just do some more reasearch and peice together a kit.

Sorry, I'm new here but what is DA?

Yes, from what I hear SSauto is pretty bad. But i'm not looking for all out horsepower which is why I was thinking the ssautochrome turbokit maybe would suit my needs.

suggestions?

DA is that early model of integra.

the SS auto stuff just sucks in general. A key thing to keep in mind when starting out, is that you will ALWAYS get what you pay for. The cheap stuff is exactly that. Cheap.

Well, are there any other alternatives to the SSauto turbokit? I'm not looking to spending much money. I need a very basic kit with a little extra goodies like a FMIC and etc. My HP goals will never see past 250hp.

Input?

those are more expensive compared to the ~$800 turbo kit SSauto has to offer but I know that they're way better in quality.

if you cheap out on the SSauto kit, the manifold will fall apart. your turbo will hit the road, you will run it over. light your radiator on fire and your car will burn down.

id rather not risk having my turbo fall off and spend the money to do it right the first time.

THE FIRST TIME.

also you sound very new to this, if you plan to run some stupid FMU or afc hack and u think itll "be good enough" it wont be. its ****.

spend the money now, and your engine will last and not blow up. thats my .02$

KEY TO TURBO CARS

SPEND THE MONEY NOW PAY LESS LATER !

do your research especially.

if you cheap out. youll end up payin for it 10 fold later. trust me.

if you are so into the price of the SSauto kit, i say just run it.

lessons in life are learnt in 1 of 2 ways.
1. you make the mistake and you learn from it (hopefully).
2. you learn from hearing about other's mistakes (thats why they teach history).

from what everyone is saying, if you dont want to listen and learn then buy the SSauto kit and learn the lesson the hard way.

thats the PeakBoost copy, and i agree.

no offense, but give me a call when the PeakBoost copy fails, and i'll get you setup on the real thing...
i only say this, because i have had customers call me and explain that they bought the copy trying to save money and it last less than 1,000 miles.

feel free to PM me with any questions

I would rather buy a used drag or rev-hard turbo kit than SSauto, but that's me. My buddy had one and it was nothing but headaches.

Spend the money and do it right. at least get a drag or revhard kit. They come with quality pieces like actual turbos, intercoolers, BOV's, wastegates that work. Please don't build a junkyard kit either. If I see another junkyard kit I'm gonna puke

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum bro

Trust me, I know a few things about turbo cars as I own a 1993 Turbo MR2.

I just want to build a cheap *** honda for fun. I know that SSauto builds crap stuff but judging from the responses that i'm getting, they're crappier than crap stuff LOL. On the MR2 boards, ssautochrome has a pretty bad reputation as well for building pretty crappy down pipes but I just wanted to see what kind of product they are offering the Honda crowd. Looks like it doesn't change. Yes, I know that you get what you pay for in the world of performance tuning but I just wanted to see if I could cut corners on this next upcoming project. I'm not too worried about project honda as my MR2 is my main priority.

Here she is:

I love hondas too and would love to build one with using the least amount of cash as I can. A drag turbo kit is a little bit out of reach and I would never put that kind of money into a ******* box like non-vtec integra that i'm building for fun. Those funds could be allocated towards my deuce for a monster turbo kit already.

I would like to try to get away with building a solid integra with pennies... hence, not looking for all out crazy power too.

Hmmm... I'll probably resort to buying tons of used items and peicing a custom kit myself. Remember, I'm not looking to spend much money here.

Thanks for the replies guys

you should keep it stock, then your mr2 would be even faster.

well being that you are calling your integra a non-vtec ******* box, you should stay away from the honda world. Any b-series motor can be made a monster for the most part stock block or not. sounds like you need to do some more research.

peice together your own kit.

buy the best you can afford on these parts:
log manifold- $300
New garret t3/t4 $550
Intercooler from Johnnyracecar or custom coach - $200

and then "nickel and dime" the rest.
according to my calculations you should be able to peice together a decent kit for $2000 easy.
