what was your break in method? How are A/F's and timing. The rings should be seated enough by 100miles that no smoing should occur. I always use the hard-break in method BTW

after 44 miles. The plugs look just liek they should. No oil on them or anything. Im starting to belive that a seal may me blown in the turbo and causing the oil burning. Gonna take off the boost pipes and check.

i always ran my **** hard for the first 25-50 miles (not ***** 2 the wall hard) to seat the rings
the rings cant un seat their selves
we just rebuilt my boys **** and it smoked bad for the first 3 tanks of gas (~900 miles) and now its fine just keep check on your oil cause my boys oil always stayed full so we determined it was the **** in the exhaust

O and on mine i was runnin open down pipe since i rebuilt my motor and when i hooked up my exhaust she smoked like crazy then it stopped after i beat the **** outta it all night long (when i blew my motor oil was pouring outta the muffler so it was alot of **** in there)

Which turbo? I had my broke in on the dyno. It smokes only becasue of the 11.5-12.0 A/F ratio at WOT. That's becasue it's supposed to. It does not smoke at all otherwise. I have about 700 miles on the new motor. I have the SRP pistons too only 9.9 CR.

That could have been due to the assembly lube burning off in the initial startup. Right?

Those plugs are pretty rich. I should be able to see the whitness of the electrode. The base of the spark plug (called the ring) is where you look for signs of lean/rich mixtures NOT the electrode.

2.) RUN IT HARD. The rings seat by the pressures in the cylinder. The gas will force the rings against the walls and the declerations will hold the rings set to that position. It's easy just floor it too redline (now that you have some miles on it cause otherwise, I wouldn't redline immediately) and let the engine break all the way back to idle. Repeat this for the first 100 or so miles then do it often for about 500 then it's pretty much broken in when you compression check it.

fix your AF's though

could be oil from the turbo getting past the seals if you're not running a restrictor, what oil pressure readings are you seeing?

when I first started up my built motor w/ rebuilt turbo I was seeing 80 psi at idle (cold) and was getting a lot of smoke. put in a restrictor and no more smoke!

Mine never smoked at all, That oil line is definelty too big so that restricter should help out alot, I would fix the A/f's and run it hard. I recently was talking to one of the guys who works at precision turbo (located in Hebron) and what they do for oil restricters is cut the tip off the fitting in the turbo, bore it out a lil and stick a nitrous jet in there. He said it works great and they do it on many of there cars. Has anyone else done this?

thats a good idea with the nitrous jet. But it has to fit a flared fitting correct?

I made my 1st restrictor out of a carburetor jet from my old motorcycle, worked great so I don't see why a n2o jet would be any different
