Default Oil leaks are bad, mm'kay?

grr.

okay here's the dilly.....i changed my oil last wednesday when it was actually bearably warm enough to do so, and now i'm leaking. badly. very badly. it's about 20 degrees outside right now, so i'm not really in the mood to go jack up my car and get under it trying to figure out what's wrong.

Everytime i change my oil, I change the drain plug washer (call me psychotically ****, but it's like 50 cents for a frickin washer so I don't complain), filter, and the usual clean oil thing. Anywho, I did the same this time, and I've been able just by gazing with a flashlight that it's not leaking out the oilpan at all (i have oil on my driver's side axle and intermediate shaft, as well as other places above the oilpan). This makes me think it's the filter, but like i said it's too frickin cold to check right now (i would like to keep my genetalia from falling off at this point in time). What I'm looking for are other opinions on places to check; i just replaced my cam seal about 5k miles ago and did my valve cover gasket at the same time. I always torque to factory spec, and am really really **** about doing things exactly as the Helms says to. Any help is appreciated; i won't be driving my car till tuesday when it warms back up to a point where i can look.

Thanks!

Whats up ZOOM?
Hey its cold in IOWA too? J/k.
I know this sounds simple but did you check to see if old rubber gasket came off on the old oil filter? Becuse if it didn't when you put the new filter on it won't seal correctly. and cause as you said very bad oil leaks. Just thought it might help.

^^ What he said. Sometimes the rubber gasket gets comes off the old filter and just gets stuck, so when you screw in the new filter there really isnt a tight seal due to the 2 overlapping gaskets.

check the left side of the engine block unde the distrubutor cap. i have an oil leak right there at the point where the block and the head meet. i need to rip it all apart and put in new gaskets(i'll prob throw in three, maybe four(don't know if four is feasible) to increase longevity of the gaskets, as well as compression, but i'm gonna wait until i can afford a port, polish and match, not only for the exhaust manifold but also for the intake manifold). check it out. older gsr's always develop a leak at that point. good luck!!!!
