My CRX is easy to get into. How can I prevent this
Anyone with a set of Civic keys can open my CRX and Start the engine and be on their way. I could put the an Alarm, some kill switches, an auto-lock on the cluth, and move my hood release around to somewhere hidden, which i plan to do. But they can still easily use the keys to get into my car or the use the silent porslyn method. If they're careful not set off the alarm they'll have plenty of time to jack my deck and sound system. I could carry my deck everywhere, which is an inconvenience and Mabey bolt the Subs and AMP to the floor some how. But they could still unscrew the AMP and Subs with a little time. After putting so many deterences they can still get into my car and take my AMP and Subs, that's a few hundred gone. This seems alittle unfair any extra or new ideas to improove my my cars safety. If there any suggestions or comments it would be greatly apreciated.

i think his question was about being broken into and stuff being stolen not so much about the whole car.

One cool idea I thought was cool was a keypad ignition like they had in the Transporter.
And also, clarify: you said your locks are broken because any key can open them right? That's why I suggested the lock change. That just seems like the easiest way to go.

First let me say that there is nothing you can do at all... If someone wants in bad enough they will get in.... KEY OR NOT
As far as the lock assembley.. I am sure you can buy a lock set through the classifieds. Somone is parting something out somewhere to where you can get all the locks and keys for a minimum.
And of course an alarm. I also advise spending the money and getting a prox "ska radar" sensor. It sends a warning without anyone touching your car, and is fully adjustable. Be carefull when you get an alarm because not all alarms include a kill switch. Make sure to ask your sales person.
Let me also give you some insight as I have not always lived an honest life. Keep anything worth any money out of sight and always take off your face to your stereo if you can. Again, key or not if someone wants the car they will take it. Park in a well lit area and if you can afford them... get cheap cameras.

I can't believe that guy just admitted to once being a thief. I say we lynch his ***.
I don't know why you're saying "I guess there's nothing further to do" right after they gave you some full proof ideas. Change your locks and key cylinder, or shave the handles and do door poppers. Not particularly hard or expensive on such an old car.
Another thing you can do that was alluded to is do a stealth install on your alarm and include glass breakage and proximity sensors. Get yourself a two way paging alarm, a bat, and you'll have the jump on their ***.
If you do all the stuff everyone suggested then no one will get away with your ****. If they really want it, they'll have to get a job and earn it.

How much would it cost for door poppers. Also if I had stealth alarmed installed, what are glass breakage and proximity sensors, and whatever it is, if they use the porslyn trick will it still Trigger it ---I dont know shiet about cars or alarms that's why im asking questions. And I dont think my cars locks are broken I just said that any honda key can get open it. I've seen it down with my friends. "Bob locked his keys in his CRX so Doug comes and uses his civic keys to open Bob's CRX and is able to start the ignition if he wants to. Iguess door popers are a good solution. -SuspendedHatch- nice site, it's alot to take in but "excellent"

I know that everyone's car is not like that, my friends and I have tried it on each other's cars. You and/or your friend have a messed up ignition and door locks.

Here is what I want to do:
1.)I want door poppers (,but keep handles)
2.)removeable steering wheel
3.)Clutch auto-lock
4.)Quality alarm with multiple sensors
5.)fuel cut off switch hidding
6.)I want to keep the ignition key slot in place, but hav it set up so that starting the car is a keyless operation (via remote) I want to completely feign stockness.
7.)place a cover over my interior door handles
I want an alarm w/ 2 way paging, so, that I can pistol whip potential theives.

Honda's are one of the easiest cars to steal. In order to make it difficult for a theif to steal your car you have to think about how he would go about it. Then take measures to make it difficult if not impossible for him to steal/break into your car.
How a theif can steal your car
1. Get access to and cut your hood latch cable through the fender/wheel well liner rea, and use pliers to pull on the cable to pop the hood.
2. Cut the wires to the siren once your hood has been opened.
3. Pry open the metal around your door handle to access the door lock, or slim jim between the window and door seal.
4. Once inside your car he can take off the plastic trim piece around your steering column and access the two phillips screws holding the ignition switch in. Now he can start you car with the screwdriver.
5. One hard yank to the steering wheel sheers the steering column lock and away he goes with your car.
Now that we know how a theif thinks lets move onto preventative measures:
1. Relocate your hood cable I rerouted mine to go into the frame rail where the fender bolts up. You can also run it through one of the grommets in the firewall. Also you can get a switch that monitors when the hood is open (similar to the way your dome-light works when your door opens)
2. Relocate your alarm siren. You can get a siren with a battery backup so even if it gets cut it will still have power. You can also mount the siren up under the dash or in the door panel.
3. EF Civic sedan rear door handles "keyhole delete" and power door lock actuators. wired up to the alarm. Now that you deleted the key hole you can also weld in "baffles" to prevent slim jimming of the door.
4. Removable connector. A 20 pin connector de-pin all the wires and re-pin them with all black wires. Use this to disable things like injectors through the injector resistor box, ecu power, fuel pump, distributor. All you have to do is disconnect the plug put it on your key chain when you leave your car. Since it has all black wires coming out of it the theif will have a difficult time jumping each wire to figure out what wire goes to what on top of that you can wire it so if he jumps the wrong wire it blows a fuse. What kind of thief carry a bunch of spare fuses on them.
Furthermore Lo Jack or a GPS Tracking system I think DEI sells them. You can track your car online and send commands such as turning the car off from your cell phone.
If you wanted to go really extreme get a harness out of the junkyard and use the oem wires for the alarm. Most seasoned thieves become well versed with where the alarm is, what wire colors they are, and what they do. Wiring the alarm with oem wires would throw them through a loop, as would putting it in the factory loom.
Hope this helps many of these measures I plan on putting in my own car to make it more difficult for a theif to steal it.
