Default header noises???What??

Ok i bought my 97 dx hatch like 2 minths ago, and it has always made a crazy vibrating noise. i thiought iit was the stock muffler, so i got a magna flow. It has a ebay ceramic cheapo header. The previous owner said that the header made the noises. I dont understand how it could tho. Someone explain, The noise sounds like its coming from the rear of the car. i checked all the bolts on the header they are tight. someone hellllllllllllllpppppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!

it would be hard to follow my ear, as it only does it at high rpms, not real high tho, and its from the back of the car. i removed the heat shields,. and i cant find anywhere that the exhaust is hitting. maybe its the cat. its like a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz noise, real loud at higher rpms

Check your cat insulation/shield. The one under the driver's seat.

yeah dude for sure, I had the same thing with my 99 EK hatch. I put on 4 2 1 DC header on my civic and it made a high pitched rattling sound, almost like a buzzing. I think its because the headers are pushing more exhaust through than your stock muffler can handle (if you have a stock exhaust). I also had a magnaflow muffler put on my hatch after it started makin that shitty buzzing sound. When I was at really high RPMs it still made somewhat of a bussing/crackling sound

Yep, w/o a cat you'll get the attack of the killer bees sound at high rpm.

yeah for sure, once I had the DC header on and the full Magnaflow exhaust I didn't have a cat converter. does the rattling occur from too much flow that the cat would otherwise restrict?

sorry, don't know why it does it, but all I know it will buzz like a **** w/o a cat.... quite irritating, really.

If you have a DX, the cat went out with the stock header. What do you mean you have the stock cat still on the car?

most cars have the bees, btu if its a vibration thats something else, when mine vibrated it was the b pipe right before the axle back rubbing on the brake

That is probably just the sound that the cheapo header and exhaust make. You could always try welding in a resonator to rid it of the buzzing but if I wee you I would just buy a more quality part.

I dunno... I was using a DC sports 4-2-1 header w/o a cat and had a bad case of the bees. Is DC a cheapo part?

My manifold = $1300

I don't have a cat, or a resonator and I don't have the bees.
