Default 87 crx si question

Well a few questions actually.

I am getting a 87 civic crx si. The car is in decent shape but the tranny has lost 5th gear. It still goes into 5th gear but makes a horrible grinding sound while in gear. Does anyone know what this might be? Does the tranny need to be replaced?

Can someone with a crx si tell me what top gear in 4th is? Also what rpm are you at in 4th at say 70 mph? Would it be bad to drive without 5th gear on the highway?

you need to replace or have the tranny rebuilt.

your going to waste a bit more gas without the final drive. i dont think anyone is going to know how much gas youll waste, but the BEST option might be to find another tranny in a junkyard....
