so the mating surface(headgasket area) is scratched, so how deep is it? can you feel it when you scrap it with you finger nail? but yea if it isnt to bad you can get it shaved.

My advice to you is to go with him to a machinist, and ask the machinist about getting the head milled (shaved, as you said). He'll be able to tell you for sure whether or not the head can be salvaged, it'll be hard for any of us here to tell you without pictures for reference, or at least a better description.

He should give that to you. It's trash. You might get a few parts otherwise.
That head is from a blown motor.

i saw somewhere that a guy had damage like that and he sent it of to benson's to get it rewelded and blended and it cost like 300. then all the other charges...i think he spent like 1500 repairing the head and a P&P. that head isnt worth 250 man. id say your looking at atleast 5-600 more to get that head fixed

That head is done. You can find anouther b16 or gsr head in way way better condition. It would cost you some serious $$$ to get it fixed if that is even possible. Take some time and look around on ebay or on this site for a better one.

Ok smart *** You know what I mean though. In retrospect, I was always worrying about how cheap I could get stuff for, or if its broken then I could fix it. Well I say to that idea because there would always be something else wrong for sure costing me even more time and money. If you want the best you can't go cheap ....unfortunately.

Go find a good head. Theres no point in trying to revive that one. It's done. And I would suggest you don't ever deal with that guy you're dealing with now.
