Default Tires for gsr

are there any specific tires that are good for tegs? for some reason the previous owner of my car had all four tires different. like 1 yokohama, 1 kumho, 1 michelin, and 1 falken. im still pretty confused why he did it but im in need of some tires. which brand and type would last me and grip well? ive heard yokohamas grip well.

I just got a set of Kumho SPT. Although they are not the best tire you can get, they are by far they are the best bang for the buck. They got admirable rating from Tirerack.com and the price is very resonable. Their dry grip is very good and in the rain they grip just as well.

ive had zeix 512s, kumho 712s, avs es100, and pzero nero ms.

avs es100 are the best tires by so much its almost embarassing. quieter than the kumho's and grip better than all of them. but its not an all season tire, so watch out for snow.

The tread on these wore out super fast for me. But i also went autocrossing, drag stip. ETC...

I have fuzion ZRI's now and ive been happy so far, grip about as good as the bridgstone potenzas and i am not sure about the life of them.

I have ES100's (V-rated) on my stock GS-R wheels and Sumitomo HTR-Z II (W-rated) on my 16" wheels. Both of them grip very well in the dry. The Yoks are probably a little better in the rain, given that the HTR's are more of a summer grippy tire (treadwear is only 220).

treadwear doesnt mean anything. a yoko tire with a 220 rating and a kumho tire with a 220 rating arent comparable. the numbers are only used for comaring tires of the same make. so like a 220 yoko and a 300 yoko can be compared

i really don't care for the toyo proxies fz4's. i've had two wrecks with those tires, and both were in the winter. they wear out really fast too. the last set i had was dunlop fm901's and they were pretty nice.

Falken Ziex ZE-512. Cheap, and I'm on my second set! They are good and quiet, but my alignment is off, so they wear out in like 8000 miles. Once they start to wear, they suck. In any amount of rain, they'll hydroplane at 40 mph. But that is expected from any worn tire. They are a good, non-expensive tire. I'm very happy with them!

I have a set of the all season proxies...grip like a mothafucka. They are however, 225/40/16 so they are way wider than I want for my car...hog acceleration. But i take corners like a foo ^_^

Yes I know that, but given that the government standard is 100, a tire w/ a 220 treadwear is probably going to have a softer compound than one with 300.
