Questions about kill switches
What is it really? Is it a button that u need to push before cranking up the car or something else? Do they come with an alarm or it is a seperate thing? Also, where can I get such a switch? There is an audio shop which charges a lot and then there is a BestBuy which do audio installs. I know the audio shop can do it but would Bestbuy be able to handle it? The audio shop quoted me 300 for an alarm and install. Is it normal for them to throw in some kill switches during the install?
a kill switch.. would KILL the engine... if u are talking about a push button start (like an s2k) or a remote start... then yes an audio shop can do that...
A kill switch can do a number of thinks, but the most common thing is to have it kill the ignition. If you have an MSD box you can tap into the small red wire, this wire is used to turn on the MSD box so if you switch this off the car will die (the switch is used to interupt the signal). Without an MSD I dont know how to kill the car. This can be used as an anti theft or to shut the engine off really fast.
