Default Integra GSR: Is reliablity an issue?

I am looking into buying a 94 GSR and my quesiton is if I buy a GSR with a few bolt ons, its obviously going to have been beat on, and taken into red enough for me to question its reliability.

I know every case is different but Im still wondering. Is a GSR with 120,000+ Miles on it still reliable? Also what would I looking into replacing?

120k is just getting broken in...

has it had regular maintenace and oil changes???

does the owner have records???

take it to a mechanic you trust and have it checked out to be sure, if you want..

if all maintenance has been kept up, i would get it...

The car is MEANT to be driven hard ....... as long as it's taken care of.

IE regular oil changes, fluids, proper maintenance etc. As long as it's had good maintenance? I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, get a compression/leakdown done.

Probably just that the old one cracked and leaked... it's fairly common.

yea, the radiator ain't a big deal. ask the seller what other maintenance or parts were replaced. also, make sure you test drive it. 120k miles is nothing if it was taken care of.

Hope this Helps.....

Here's How much i spent 2 years ago when i bought my 94 GSR until Now

-Complete Tune Up, Belts, Motor Oil, Tranny Fluid, Coolant, Spark Plugs etc. - $375
-Front Alxe Boots - $200
-Optima Battery - $120
-Rack n Pinion Power Steering boot - $40
-Tokico Illuminas with Ground Control Coilover system - $580
-Edelbrock Intake manifold - $330
-Greddy Turbo kit w/ intercooler - $3500
-Greddy Evo Exhaust System - $400
-Skunk2 Short Shifter - $90
-Epower Ground Stabilizer - $120
-Ominpower Quicklutch Clutch Master Cylinder - $175

Maintence and all that bullcrap u'll be spending on your integra like $200-300 every 3 months... I change my oil every 2000miles unlike the rest of yous changing at 2500 or 3000miles

Your also wonder if your 120,000 miles on your GSR is reliable? I bought mine for $3700 with 103,000 miles on it... i boosted at 111,000 miles and now im currently at 117,000 miles and its been good to me since... only problem had recently is starting up my car in the cold weather... but overall hooking up CARS is a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY EXPENSIVE HOBBIE!!!!

I just recently purchased my '00 GSR with 108,303 on it, and with the exception of needing a new ECU (misfire-bad ecu) it drove great. I drive mine 500 miles a week just back and forth to work. And I beat on her, but thats what they're for. I haven't had any other problems out of it.

I have a 95 GSR with about 150 on it and haven't had any major problems. The only thing was that my OEM exhaust had rusted off from the cat back, but that was expected after 10 years of northeastern weather.

I put about 75k on my old GSR and only had to change the brake pads.

Hey, i bouhgt a 1996 GSR 4-door, spent more on it then i ever should have at this age. It had 118,000 miles and was driving fine. Then the whole car got STOLEN from my driveway one morning......

Moral of the story.....Dont buy an integra unless you plan to keep it stock.....its a waste of time. And you think it wont happen to you, even with a security system and what not. If you buy the 900 dollar lo-jack system, then i might believe you will be pretty save. but yea. uhh, get a WRX or mustang Cobra or something...

No, Hondas are some of the most reliable cars out there. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.

dont buy a integra with bolt ons

and yes they are reliable. if you getting one at 120k you might need to change timing belt or clutch. after i got my 95 gsr two weeks later the clutch broke on me. ****

My 94 GS-R has 218,xxx miles on it at present time. I drive it fairly hard every day, but it has no engine mods at all. Original engine and tranny, still getting ~33 mpg.

the car should be reliable, have it checked out, and then you will have your answer, sometimes you just have to take a chance and go for it. Good luck

i would buy a gsr with mods, but it would depend on what brand the **** is. if the guy you're buying from has a 3A racing muffler with altezzas, apc stickers, and dropzone y0! coilovers i would definitely steer clear of something like that.

i have a 94 gsr with about 180k on it. i got it 2 yrs ago with 103k. i drive it back and forth from atl to miami about once every couple or so months and generally put close to 3000 miles on it every month. and best believe on those long drives i beat the hell out of her. 100+ mph for pretty long stretches of time...

other than regular maintenance (oil changes, plugs, wires, etc, and i changed all my belts earlier this year)...only thing that's failed on me was my brake master cylinder, my fan motor, and the dizzy. that's common stuff which is bound to wear out...not even $500 in parts. i'm JUST NOW needing to do brakes (they were done right before i got the car).

trust me...you get a teggy in even decent condition and take care of it...it will last forever...
