if you hear the pop that means the latch is releasing it... can you move the emergency lever which holds the hood down?

a northern car came into my shop with this problem....the latch is rusted. We had to cut the grill and unbolt the latch, then order her a new one.

theres a wire with a ball at the end of it that gets pulled into the latch which opens it....that wire may have to much slack and the ball is just hitting the latch and not pulling the latch with it.........had that problem with my hatch (the trunk)

had that problem with my civic ex, with the hood. Luckily I was able to slip a really small drive ratchet with an extension in the side of the hood and then dragged it to the front of the car where the latch is. Then I just loosed the 2 bolts holding the latch to the frame and voila, hood opened!

Its gonna be a bitch but some ingenuity and patience goes a long way

in the end u may just need to cut your grill

Same problem today. I had to go in through the bottom of the grille and remove the whole latch mechanism. Then pound it off the catch as it dangled from the hood. The latch had siezed, and yanking on the lever only broke the cable. New latch mechanism, new cable, etc... $$$

sucks to live north!

GL.

My bro had the problem once. At first we just tried spraying some penetrating oil in there. You might try that. It didn't work for us, we ended up snapping stuff....boooooo!
