they are four headlights with seperate high and low beam bulbs, high beam(9005) on the inside of the headlight and low beam(9006) on the out side

H-4's are also referred to as 9003 bulbs

Sylvania Silverstars for the 96'-00' civic part number is 9003ST, they are good lighting, i like everything about them except for the price. you shoud grab up silver stars for your turn signals while your at it, 1157st

ive got some Sylvania Silverstars corner bulbs for 8 bucks for the pair and shipping would be like 2 or 3 bucks hot buy, i had an extra set lying around! there is a picture in my for sale thread in my sig, last pic i believe

ok one more question. i got the silverstars and was looking for corner bulbs. i found 1157AST but not 1157st. is there a major difference or will i be able to use the ast one?
