His car can fit a 33x17" tire, but the smallest it can fit is a 32" diameter due to "rear end" to tranny clearance. Most cars in the class can't fit anything near that big.

does the he steer with the front or rear wheels.

i was kinda thinking if the steering was with the front and if you moved it to the back it might make some space??? kinda like fork lifts but with both instead one. lol

Ever drive really fast backwards? Steering with the rear wheels would be a death trap!! lol

well it because your not familiar to it but if you can get it where it's stable and it's very .

i can see going 200mph can be shake but whats the diffrence controlling the steering for the front than the back.

i know drive backward is wierd but you facing backward also if turned your set around you might be more comfirtable.

It just a idea though i come up with some great ideal but it's so hard to make them in to reality.
oh well..

thanks for you input.

Maybe after you crash a few cars with rear wheel steering you would get the hang of it. lol

When it comes down to it, we fit 33x17" tires on a fwd car and it steers the front, so there's no need for rear wheel crashing...

if you really wanted to get crazy, you could reverse the input of your steering column on the rear drive setup, so left would still be left, rather than right. Either way 33x17 should be more than enough for the old car.

You think it would be safe?

Why don't they make cars rear wheel steering?

haha , yeah you'd be "getting" them - with shards of broken racecar!
I couldnt go straight even with front wheel steering...I shoulda took out the steering to isolate the problem haha.

It not so much as it would take someone to get used to it. Because it would be damn near impossible to... especially at racing speeds while trying to shift and modulate the throttle.

Why it is so difficult is not that you are facing backwards in the car (as in your example) but the fact that steering is so sensitive.

In front-wheel steering, the length of the car is following and won't make a sharp angle compared to where the front wheels go.

In rear-wheel steering, the car is being pushed to turn and the turning is drastically harsher and more sensitive. Small corrections would be deadly.

i thought this set up might work but after looking at the pic steering rod was next to the tire. point taken and dually noted

but i guess if you move the rod to the middle it might work?

The steering rod and the tire move together though, so it would work?
