Default Help: Swapping dashboard...Do I need to swap VIN Numbers too?

I am about to do a gray to black dasboard swap...my question is, Do I need to swap out the vin numbers also located on the left upper side of the dashboard?

Is it legal to do that?

Thanks!

i just left the swapped dash vin on the swapped dash...

the true car VIN is in a variety of locations on the car- never had any problems with police

well just have to unscrew every single screw in the back, and barely pry it off, it was hella simple just time consuming, and yeah i bet they probably wouldn't care... but i live in cali one, and have a k20 swapped integra, so i don't want any reason for them to pop my hood

^ yeah and i was gonna say, cops where i live dont know **** about cars/engine stuff. In cali they are much worse.

I have a turbo coupe with open dumptube, non-srs steering wheel in srs car, and a dashswap and with all that i have been pulled over twice but not gotten cited at all.

And im sure in cali i would be car-less by now

when i registered this car DMV look and touch the vin numbers on the dash and compare the one in the door jamb...

i didn't have a vin on my dash, because i swaped dash's. Cops ever ask for you vin just tell them theres 8 other vin's on the car check those.

I just crack a little bit the vin numbers portion from the donor dash. is there any easy trick on how to remove the vin numbers w/o cracking the dash?

they're riveted on and I don't have tool for that.

You can just drill out the rivet.

drill out from the top of the dash right? im thinking of doing that but the plastic dash is so brittle. i don't think the rivet will come out from the other side.

im thinking of making a bigger hole from the back and pushing it up to come out. it will not be seen with the vin in place anyway.

If it works go for it.

you can take your chances on that i would not recomend it ........ because altering the vins is a legal and a felony in some states ......... and if you think a cop is going to say something about your vin he is probably a dick anyways and you tell him there are other vins they will impound your car and you will have to pay storage fees and what not

the only legal way is go to the high way patrol with the dash and vin number and they will do it for you but your dash has to still be in the car ......evry area is different though
