so we are going to be installing a 94 gsr into my roomated 91 crx.

My main concern is the speedometer in his car is cable driven. We have a YS1 to mach up to it for his cable clutch and speedometer..

But we need to know what to do about the ecu. We will convert it to obd1, but we still have the problem of the obd1 ecus throwing a code for a speed sensor which the ys1 will not have.

What can we do to elimate this problem- can this function be removed from the ecu, or is something else required

AFAIK for OBD 0 pin B16 is the speed sensor for OBD 1 pin B10 is the speed sensor. All you should have to do for your OBD 0 to OBD 1 conversion harness is match up B16 to B10 and use your stock speedo in the YS1 tranny. I'm gona run out to my car and yank my conversion harness and see how my wiring is routed for my CRX w/ OBD 1 GSR swap.

 

ok I just checked and my OBD conversion harness takes pin B16 from the CRX and match it up to pin B10 on my OBD 1 ECU side.

 

In USDM CRXes, the speedo is built in the guage cluster. The cable drives it.

 

It should work fine with the conversion harness. On OBD1 the signal is generated at the VSS in the tranny and sent to two places: The ECU and the gauge cluster. On OBD0 the signal is generated in the gauge cluster, the speedo is driven mechanically and the signal is sent to one place: the ECU.
