I'm going to make my first trip to the race track soon and I wanted to see if some HT members can brief me with some terminology. To begin what do the following terms mean regarding race nights:
Grudge
Gamblers
Street
Test & Tune
Also I plan to go to either Atco Raceway or Raceway Park. Do any of you know what I need to do to get to race (IE sign waivers, bring a helmet, etc.) Also does anyone know how much it costs to race at Atco?

All you need to do is sign a wavier and if you go to atco bring a helmet. If you go to e-town they rent them out.
Also if you are not running slicks go to e-town. Atco you can not go around the water box which sucks *** if you are on street tires. Also atco's clean up sucks compared to e-town. If there is an oil down be ready to wait a long *** time for the guys with leaf blowers and hand held torches to clean the track at atco.
Why not come out to the street wars event this weekend at e-town. It is on sunday. Good way to meet alot of other honda people.

parents anniversary this weekend... I want to get more into the DR scene though I've just been so busy getting my car ready.
What would be a good type of event to get the most seat time? I'd assume something on the weeknights?

events where you can win money like NHRA, Nopi, ISS, streetwars you will prob only get like 3 practice runs in before eliminations. If you want to get a lot of runs in you should prob go to a track that does not have a huge turn out on test and tune nights. Go to a track like island. I hear you can get a ton of runs in. I went to a few test and tune nights at maple grove and ended up only getting like 2 runs in.
Also I hear e-town on fridays you can get a lot of runs.

so whats the difference between Grudge, Gamblers, and Street Races? Which would you say will give me the most seat time of those? Or will a Test and tune night be better for me starting off?
Also are weeknights good times to go? I would think they will be less packed but I don't know.

So would you say that weeknights are better than Fridays? I can do weeknights.
And still... whats the difference between Grudge, Gamblers, and Street Races?

i was there last friday and got 4 runs. i came at 6:30 and my card had one run already checked off but i still was able to get 4 runs.
do not go wednesday night to etwon, you will be waiting forever. go on a friday night, friday nights are also cheaper.

Grudge races are when you call someone out, usually a friend or someone and you specifically run them. Gamblers is like a bracket race where you or the the other person gets practice runs and then you dial in your time to whatever you think your gonna run based on your practice runs. You line up and someone will usually get a slight headstart with the thinking that if both you and the other driver run exactly on your dial in and cut the same light it will be a tie. That never happens, so if you get to the line before the other guy you won. Unless you broke out because you ran faster than you predicted. I have went to wednesday night test and tunes at e-town, last time I went I got 14 runs in. I shut my car off at 8 and went home. It all depends, sometimes people go and sometimes people don't. Atco sucks big time, one little leak and the night is over. However if you get there early you can round rob and get like 5-6 passes. Before the crowd starts to gather.
Chad you know as well as I do when you come out to events you never get 3 runs, when was the last time we got three practice runs, last event we got more, but almost all season we were getting 1 or maybe 2.

John i guess I lied about how many runs I get in at the events.
Almost all the events this year I got 3 runs in except for the NHRA event on sunday. But what do I know.

I wasn't aware you always got 3 runs, because I know I didn't seem to get them at all the events.
