buying 2002 Civic Si
I have the chance to pre-purchase the 02 Si before it comes out. so when it arrives at the dealer, they will call me to pick it up. Good idea or bad? i'm pretty sure i want this car. my only concern is it's condition, is there chance it will have scratches/dents? if so, will they fix it before giving it?
what is otd? well, the dealer is having a presale. someone from clubsi says don't do it cuz it might have more mileage, rock chips, dents. so i dunno what to do. i'm scared i might not be able to find one cuz they will sell fast. alot of the dealers are only getting like 15 a YEAR. that's so few. so i wanna make sure i can get one.
i say do it...all people on this board do is talk **** about the new civic si...its a nice car out of the box...id love to have one, but dont want to commit to high payments on a car again. im sure the car you pre-pay for will be in perfect shape. if its coming from the manufacturer, straight off the truck it should be fine.
yeah, i sure hope so.. thanks for the support slo_teg. i think u're the only one out there haha.. no one likes the si. i dun know why. they diss it w/o even giving it a try, which is so gay. anyways. yeah i think i am going to do it. hopefully, it'll be in perfect condition
any other imputs are welcome thnx guys

what, i seriously thought it was an Odessey, until it was next to me and i noticed it was a hatch with "DOHC VTEC" on the side. and i'll be the first to admit i turned my head to try and get a second look. it just looked real big, but that may have been an illusion from the white paint and it being a bright day.

wow? it was that big. everyone that has seen it in real life says they are really smaall are surprised. they say they look much better in person. u didn't think so?
i'd love to have one... though slow compared to my car now, I just want a quick car, thats comfortable, new, and reliable. Got many problems with my car right now... nothing too big or anything, but just stuff I dont need to deal with. BUT i would just as easily run out and get a civic coupe or sedan cuz im so sick of my old car.
it may be a fun car, but it is going to need work. as Car and Driver said, its not much from the factory, but it will be fun to tune. I say you will have to put a RSX-S or a new CRV engine in there to make it even more fun
Oh ya and lower it about 2 feet

haha, you guys are going off topic
yeah so i want this car.. do i prebuy it or no? cuz if i wait it'll be tough since it will sell like hotcakes.

i say buy it... its not really that slow... the drivers just cant drive!
i think someone was lucky enough to get to run it and they ran a 15.5 in it. not half bad. As far as mods, you know they'll come... and in the mean time you can always swap the RSX-S head in it for some mad power. (at least i dont see no reason why you cant)
like i said, buy it if you can... the interior rocks (seats and shifter rule!), the handling is aiight (needs rims and tires), and I think the car would look PHAT lowered! BUY BUY BUY!!!

if everyone been reading the reveiws they might be hesitant on getting one right away..so there should be a few out there u can choose from..im sure going to check it out along with the eclipse, SE Rs, SVT s, even the tiburon with the new V6..ive got to make a quick buy within the next 2wks cuz im sick of this rental
after the last project..the wife will kill me if i start messing with a new car..whatever i get ive got to make some kinda excuse to work the suspension..i might have to wait for a the warranty to wear off..but it ll be a good future project
eveybody (car makers) are into this whole 1st gen odessy size and style, pontiac vibe, toyota matrix, honda civic si,and the mazda and mitsu thing, and if you ask me the whole thing sucks, the style and the new trend....

I think you will like it. I sat in one, and I must say the interior and seats were awesome! The seats had excellent support, and looked real nice. The exterior could use some work, but I think it just has to grow on me yet. It does look better in person though.
If I were you I would wait and test drive it....I do not see myself purchasing a car (especially one that you will be paying for over the next 3-5 years) without test driving it first. You may also want to look into other cars within the new Si price range....I hear that the new S-ER SpecV is a great car for the money.....larger displacement, 6 speed, LSD, 17 inch wheels, etc. However, I do think that new Si will be a pretty good car as a daily commuter.

i dunno, i've just been set on the Si for so long. i've wanted the 99 since it came out, but parents just said no. and here's my chance to own my very own Si. i can't pass that up
Just get it, I dont' think you'll regret it, especially if you said you wanted a new car.
I don't care if the focus runs circles around it, I still wouldn't want a focus. You'll have reliability problems out the *** probably, haven't they had like 10 recalls on them already?
It'll be fine, prepay

i would get it but my current car is still in decent condition and i wanna at least paint the car before i get rid of it... so, im gonna get it lookin nice, drive it around for a while and maybe wait for the CTR or the ITR to arrive, along with the LanEVO7 and WRX STi... and all the other fine cars that are supposedly arriving soon. I just want a car that is quick and reliable, meaning I wont be adding anything major to the car besides Intake, Header, Exhaust.
I already have a good car, which is why I have an option of waiting... but let me tell you this... I was in the market for a new car way back when the Impreza 2.5RS first arrived and I was gonna get that car... now I am glad I didnt cuz I can get the WRX or the RSX or many many other good cars, instead... if I wait longer, I'll be able to get even better. If your car is a POS and you can't wait for the CTR or whatever, get the Si. By far not a bad car, and being able to run on regular gas will surely save some cash in the long run.

Ok, I work for Leith Honda in Raleigh NC and you should have no probs with the car if you do prepurchase. We're doing that for the new Si, Civic hybrid, and Pilot. Typically, the way it works is you put down a deposit with your choices (Side SRS and color in this case) and when the vehicle gets here, it's yours. However, if you don't like the car, you get your FULL deposit back. If they tell you they can't do that, it's bullshit. Give me a call and we'll get you whatever you want. My only advice is to go with a dealer that you trust, ask about the deposit (you can't truly prepay on a car because you must have the VIN and stuff first) and make sure you get your money back if you don't want it.
As for scratches, mileage, etc. the car should be perfect. Yes, stuff does happen on the truck (imagine, an Odyssey coming in to our dealership with the rear gate mysteriously bashed in and the customer having to wait another 3 months to get another one or take that one once it's repaired) but the dealer should fix it for you for no charge. Good luck. I can't wait till our first one comes in that ISN'T sold so I can drive one of them. If you have any questions on the way this thing works, feel free to email me.
