How to tell if u have an 88-91 si tranny.?
Hey let me start of by saying i got this from a junkyard. There was a green 90 si hatch with an stock a6motor which i was assuming that there was a 90 si tranny bolted to it so i took it out and putt it on my car which before i had a dx tranny which was holding me up a little i putt the one from the a6block in my car and cant really feel a differnce so how can i tell, I was told in 5th gear you should be at like 4,000 rpms at 70mph i think i was at like 3800 and so on but is there any other way i can telll with out doing much alot of people say i should feel it like day and night differnce so please get back to me thanks alot..
just cause it was bolted 2 the a6 from 1990 to 2005 coulda had a new tranny in it so iunno. it was only 47 dollars..

i was told I have an SI trans..but im starting to doubt it...in 3rd gear at 6000 rpm im under 80 mph ..but my freind has a 90dx trans and he has about 20 less hp than me..and when we race its like dead even

You can measure the inner race of the differencial carrier bearings, but you have to have an axle remove to do that. The Si should measure 40mm. All other models are 35mm.

if PL3/x000 where x=3, 9, 1, then its an Si
if PL3/Ax00 where x =3, 9, 1 then is a DX... DX trannies have a letter with numbers on the stamp
So....if the code after PL3 are all numbers then you have an SI, if there is a letter instead in the code then its poo.

Good work telling him to search, but by searching "Si Transmission", you are actually only searching for "transmission"
The H-T search function only searches for words that are at least 3 characters long.
Kind of stupid IMO, because it eliminates searching by trim level, and most Honda cars are labled with two character trims. DX, EX, LX, Si, GS, LS etc.

2 gear should only go to bout 55 60 cause i have si tranny.55 mph is at 6800 not 7200 im sure if u went to redline ull poorb. reach 60 but u aint makeing power after 6800 just winding out.
good call on the 2 character thing.... always forget... got the answer any way though.
might be better trying: ("id ") or (identify) or (identifying) or (transmission) or (trans) or (tranny)
