Default hb no start.

hey guys,

my car wont start. heres the lo-down. i was trying to hook up a cd player from scratch, getting my power, ignition, ground and such. i cut a wire under the dash near the fuse box that i tested and found to be constant. when i cut it i tried turning the car on it did. finally i found an on/off or ignition wire, tapped into it. when i tried turning the cd player it didnt. i was like ok...so i tested the wires againg and they werent showing up to be hot. checked some fuses and one was blown, replaced it and others started blowing. now none are blown, ive disconected all the wires that i tapped into and redid them, the car wont start. i found that its not getting spark. but no blown fuses. maybe a relay???

if your not getting any spark check your power distribution under the hood and make sure all of your fuses are good. also you might want to pull of your distributor cap might have a bad ignition coil i just burned up one in my 91 crx. if you get spark and it still doesnt start the only thing it could be is a fuel problem.

how about your fuses under your hood? did you check those? does your starter crank the engine when you turn the key? are you getting proper power through your car without even trying to start it?

yes, its cranking. checked the fuses under the hood. the one thing that it doesnt do now is the little battery light doesnt come on in the cluster.

I'm guessing its the black/white wire you messed up on. This goes from ignition to starter switch.

ouch man if you don't know what you are doing you shouldn't be messing with electricity. Why would CUT wires near the fuse box??

lol, i know wtf im doing. that wire is intact and I know what it is. if that wire wasnt hooked up then it wouldnt crank over. i changed the coil and still no fix. im checking to see if the fuel pump is getting power now.

its ok. i just checked the fuel sending unit and no wires are getting power. are they supposed to when the ignition is on without cranking, i would think so.
I think theres a bad relay in the fuel wiring system, what do you guys think??

I was going to also say it may be the main relay. blowing all those fuses could have messed up the main relay.

oops got off work didn't realize you replied .

Main relay is behind your coin holder on the left side of the steering wheel. You actually need to take the coin holder out and then you can see what I am talking about it. it'll say main relay on it. kinda big.

when you turn the key to ignition on the fuel pump should turn on for two seconds to build pressure. this is what main relay cntrl. that and other things. listen for the pump after its been sitting to loose a little pressure so the pump has to turn on.

No fuel...No ignition. Sounds closer and closer to a computer. I love problems like these. If it where me. i would retrace all of my steps and really think about what it was doing right before it stoped running. Any problems you might have had that could have escelated. etc.

yea, ive been thinking all day lol. the only thing I can think of before it stopped running was a wierd idle every once in a while, no turn signals, i think the switch is bad, and the cluster warning lights never worked, like seat belt, etc. but the actual illumination has always worked. and....uhhh. left rear brake light wouldnt work when the lights were on.
