How to add transmission oil to a 94 prelude si?
hi i have a 94 prelude si manual and in desperate need of transmission fluid as i am told. But i do not know what kind of transmission fluid i should use and how to put it in? can somebody help????
put your car on a lift. There are two service holes to the left of the cv axles. Unscrew the top one, and fill it with 10w40(as the manual says) but a lot of people recommend synchromesh or something like that. Fill it with 2.1 quarts - whatever you're going to use. Make sure you drain whats in their first. Use the bottom one to do that.

Actually, putting full synthetic into an old transmission is a bad idea. It's too thin and it won't hold to the syncros well, so it'll grind a lot more often. Partial synthetic is much better. I've been on the Synchromesh for almost 2 weeks and so far have had only a slight improvement. So far I wouldn't say it's worth the $26 I paid for 2 quarts (although I couldn't get all 2 quarts in, more like 1.85, so that might be keeping me from getting the full benefit)

I have a 5th gen but it should be similar.
Open the filler bolt to let air in, drain, replace drain washer and torque to appr. 30 lbs.
Method #1 - attach some hose to a funnel and snake the hose throught the top of the engine bay down to the fill hole. This requires someone to pour from the top.
Method #2 - Get the "syringe" type things people use to mix oil in 2 stroke engines. Takes a while but it is an alternative that does not require 2 people.
Replace filler bolt with new washer - also torque to appr. 30 lbs.
You know its full when it starts to dribble out the filler hole.
I used the opportunity to put in my Spoon Sports drain plug (rip-off).

how do you know when its full? or do you also remove the filler bolt? i just remove the filler bolt, rig the hose/funnel from the top, lower the car and fill. it doesn't take 2 people, and i have the car flat on the ground to get the best possible fill.

I remove the speed sensor, use a funnel with a tube down it and fill the required quarts. Thats how i was taught.

yeah. Thats a good method. I Personally used the huge syringe type thing. It was less mess. I had the car on a lift anyway, so it was just easier to do it from the side plug.
this has worked for me for some time:
