An act of God?

There are a couple of things I'm using to de-rust some used parts...
3-in-1 oil - Periodically drip this stuff on the nut-end of the bolt connection
Simple Green - Use it like the above
PB Blaster - Haven't used it yet, but I have it, and I hear it works wonders
WD40 - Same as PB Blaster
SFH - Just like the BFH, but smaller... Use it to firmly tap the nut-end of the bolt. It might help break up the rust & scale that usually develops.
24" breaker bar (1/2" drive) - If you have enough room to use it, try it. I highly recommend using one of these instead of a pipe extension. If you don't get the right grade pipe, you might find yourself in the back of an ambulance with a broken pipe in your chest, wondering if you'll at least win a Darwin award for consolation... But that's just me and my paranoid ***... Spend the $30.
You can also use things like a propane torch or a drill (if you have a replacement bolt ready). Be careful with both.
If you already have an impact wrench, go for it. But I haven't needed one yet, and I got some old-*** stuff...
