Default the snow, the cold.

with winter right at out doorstep, i thought this would be a good informative thread about integras and snow.

Just yesturday, i retired the 17s and threw on my steelies and drove to Town Fair Tire. I had them put on Dunlop Graspic DS2s Snow tires. i cant wait to try them out.
Then today, i was thinking about converting my CAI into a short-ram just for the winter. last year i had an issue with ice forming around the filter(car is left outside 24/7)

Anyone know of anything else that should be done to our integras to prep for winter?

Change antifreezre every 2 years (ethelyne glycol-green colored)
switch to 5w30 oil if ur running 10w30
pour "HEET" in gas tank to prevent gas from freezing
Lube up locks also
make sure battery is good. Do a cca test
Put rainx or aquapel on winshield and put on winter blades (Optional)
carry a shovel, blanket, hat, gloves, salt, and cell phone in car at all times
switch winshield washer fluid to the orange stuff - good to about 34 below zero
check tire pressure often, temp affects pressure alot
GIVE ALOT OF ROOM BETWEEN URSELF AND THE CAR AHEAD OF YOU!!!!

In general, check everything out because it sucks fixing **** in freezing weather and snow.

yes. its amazing how many drivers where i live whip their cars into traffic and cut people off

one time when there was 3 inches of snow on the street, i was turning right at a green light, so i had the right of way no matter what. some fuckstick coming the opposite way(turning left) ******* turns at the same exact time as me, forcing me to cut it and buck the goddamn curb. and then i catch up to him and hes swearing at me and flipping me off???? and this guy was atleast 40 too. i LOVE when idiots almost cause an accident by breaking the law, or not yielding the right of way, etc. and then they get all pissed off at you like its YOUR fault

yeah, i know what thats like. last winter, on the way to work in Milwaukee, there was 6 inches of snow in the ground (cheap *** city wont deploy plows until theres already 4 inches accumulated!) since i have a DA with the gay sideways exhaust, tons of snow got caked on my exhaust, and the rubber mounts fell off somehow, and my exhaust snapped at the end of the downpipe. me and a friend were out there that night in -5 weather for well over an hour, with a torch and breaker bar and had a hard time getting the exhaust off. i thought i was gonna have frostbite on my toes, the steeltoes didnt help things any. that was the worst car experience ive ever had

To driver's like that.

Yeah, this one time, I went into a movie, it was fine out, come out, snow everywhere, well, my tires were pretty worn and I had 17's, and the speed limit on the road to my house is 35, I'm going about 30 because of the conditions, and my tires, and this fool is riding my *** and honking/flashing his highbeams, i mean, seriously, don't let me catch you in the supermarket.

In that situation, I drive slower...and more in the middle of the road so there is no way for them to get around me.

yes check absolutely everything. last winter bout 11 o clock takin the girl home. the road was a sheet of ice and the snow banks were high on both sides. i back out the of driveway and my car stalls in the middle of the street. COULD NOT GET IT STARTED. i had to push it into a snow bank fighting the ice almost fallin on my ***. turns out a little screw that holds the rotor on the cam in the distributor fell off, so i had no spark. had to wake my bro up and take his truck. I was PISSED. and so were my *****, it was so cold.

i planned on gettin some snow tires as well. i will also be taking off my lip, and reinstalling my rear wiper. also if you are slammed and have coilovers, you might wanna raise it up for the winter. let the plows clear the roads. no reason for you to do it for them

I swear by snow tires. They make a huge difference, especially since our Tegs. are lower to the ground. Everyone follows me because I'm like a snowplow! haha.
I have the Michelin Arctic Alpins and love them. I don't know if they're still any good for this winter. If not, then I'll be buying the Michelin X-Ice because they did a test and they're rated #1.
Other things to keep in your car are food, like chocolate bars, canned food etc.,
matches and a flashlight. I always have a CAA membership, for piece of mind. I know in the States it's AAA. I know it can take them hours to get to you during a snow storm, but eventually they will get to you.

Have you ever put an alternator on a DA Teg?
With half of the tools you need?
And Snow on the Ground?

I know whtat it is like cramming your hands down in the engine bay, with nearly frostbitten fingers.

Damn! that **** sucks...
