Default The budgeted 6 month build off!

Ok, last night me and one of my friends challenged me to a build off, the fastest all motor D series, only spending $900, wich I think is a good price for a competition, but I think $1200 would be better. I just wanted to know some of your opinions on this and what you would do. we both think the EF chassis will be the best since they are the lightest. I plan to be using a stripped Civic hatch since they are cheaper, and not as rare as CRX's. I am thinking along the lines of PM7 or P29 Pistons, with DIY Throttle bodies, cheap ebay header, full strait 2.5" exhaust, and porting the head my self. D15b2 Block, d16y8 head, and 2 layer y8 headgasget. this should give me around 12.5:1 compression (correct me if I'm wrong). what else would you do with the motor/anything to give me more power/make me go faster?

also we dont know if the price of the chassis should be in the budget or not.. what do you think?

You could probably pick up a used nitrous kit pretty cheap.

Sounds like a fun lil competition you got goin on. What you named sounds pretty good to me, that plus nitrous like hafftrak said would probably do it for ya.

I have a nitrous kit, but I dont want to use that, I kinda want to keep it all motor
I also have d15b2 head and block, y8 head and block and a z6 head, but I already plan to use the y8 block and z6 head for a turbo project. I also have Tein springs, and short shifter.. nothing really for motors

okay sorry but if i were you i would use that z6 head on your d15b2 block and
buy some 89 integra pistons.. install them in the block and get valve train for your head and cams.. do you have basic bolt ons..?

if it's just a car for a few races drop the exhuast all together and save that money for other mods, and i would still think a crx hf would be your best bet cause it's already mutli port insteady of wasteing time coverting a h/b over,

yeah, I do have a intake, and I will buy a ebay header.. I also have a AEM cam gear for a y8.

converting it over isnt a problem for me, I did it with no problems the first time in just a hours. I already have a PM6 ECU, and SI distributor, I am thinking I will stay obd0 and run a vafc or use a obd0 vtec ecu

I would go with d16 personally. More displacement. Get those d16a1 rod (from 86-87) they are thicker I guess not a necessity but safety .

88-89 Civic/Crx will be the lightest EF don't go with Si models they'll be to heavy (just my imo)
1. 86-87 Integra rods (go for cheap)
2. 89 Integra pistons (don't know to much but you say it raises compression)
3. d16 block (I would go with the extra .1 liter but thats just me)
4. z6 head (or use the y8 head)
5. y8 headgasket perhaps remove a layer (60 or less)
6. resurface head (40 bucks )
7. y8 intake manifold (unless you already have one)
8. d15b (jdm sohc vtec) camshaft (I got mine for 50 shipped) its compared to a stage 1 camshaft
9. 3 angle valve job with ported intake (not sure on price)
10. CRX Si tranny
11. Lightened flywheel (75 bucks from handcommand)
12. clutch/pressure plate stage 1 (probably get one used for around 100-150)
13. ebay header
14. convert to obd1 (pricing will vary) you have more tuning options
15. perhaps some valves and valve springs (this will get spendy)
16. hondata intake manifold gasket (I guess I'm not sure if they make them for d-series )
17. Lightweight pulleys
18. Intake just ghetto fab one up or keep it stock.
19. Get your fuel injectors cleaned
20. new fuel filter
21. aem fuel rail
22. adjustable fuel pressure regulator
23. give your car a tune up.
24. hi-flow exhaust and catback 2.25-2.5 (at the very most)
25. Gut the entire car

or

85-87 CRX SI
Fully gutted
with 88-89 Integra motor that is somewhat built
this is a d-series motor that will guarantee to haul ***

-Shane
ps: those steps are not in any type of order

oh thats right now you need tires (gonna cost a bit) just get some blizzaks some used ones for cheap burn them up just to beat him.

Get some 13 or 14 rims, I know some VW wheels are light as hell and fit, or some VX (cheaper) then hx but would do the same . Si wheel work fine too. nice light weight

Forgot to add fuel pump

some springs to help with take off.

damn I think thats about it. and hope you have good brakes already on the car
