my wifes car when accelerating under hard load was jumping earlier. you could watch the rpm gauge move eratically and you could feel it jump. i don't think it has anything to do with the timing belt because it has about 25xxx miles on a belt change.

 

does it accelerate when the RPMs jump or no

 

if the tach is moving randomly.. it coupld be alot of things... thats a sign the alternator is wearing out... bad ground... loose connection...

 

kinda felt like it was hitting rev limit at about 5K

 

so it wouldnt accelerate past 5 k? throwing cels?? real jerky? when my coil pack was about to blow up it was cutting out hard around 5k....

 

it actually threw a ignition output code or something a couple of months ago. I reset it to see if it would throw it again. it is strange, awhile back it threw the atmospheric pressure code and never threw it again. what code did it give when your coil was going? was it showing the same symptoms i changed the plug wires awhile back and the coil had some green buildup on it does that mean it is going?

 

mine didnt throw any codes when my coil shot.. it just blew up... as far as the breeen buildup.. mine had nothing of the sort on it.. my blowin coil kinda bubbled uot on one side of it.. and was the only thing noticaley differeant than the good one i replaced it with.

 

what kinda **** is that? so your driving and at high RPMs it just jumps up? clutch slipping kinda effect?

 

no rev limiter kindof feel. i pulled the dis cap to check it and when on to the plugs and the number 1 plug wire wont attach to the spark plug kind of sounds like the problem to me.
