Default Oil change

wat can happen if you by accident mix one bottle of 10w-40 and four bottels of 10w-30
can it cause some problems? or is it ok if i just did it once by accident?

thanks alot deserthonda i was worrying b/c some off my friends that have maximas were like your F up but i just wanted to make sure

Mixing different viscosities is fine, not something you should try to do but won't hurt anything. Just don't mix regular oil with synthetic. That's where you run into trouble.

no i jsut did 10x 30 with 10w 40 a one to four ratio
wat can happen if you mi syn and regular ?

There is nothing wrong with mixing regular oil with synthetic. If it was then there wouldn't be any synthetic blends at the store. I think what you might be trying to say is that sometimes it isn't a good idea to use synthetic oil in an old engine that has been using regular oil throughout its life. People say that the synthetic oil is too slick and can cause the engine to have leaky seals when it is old. I have yet to see that. But back to the original post, yes it is ok to mix the two oils. No harm done

That's just what i've been told. Things have probably changed with oil over the years too. I heard this when synthetic oil was a relitively new thing for the consumer market. Anyway, thanks for the correction, although i'm still going to avoid it.
