can you interchange the input shafts between 88-89.i know they have differnet spline counts that' why i want to change to a 89 so i can use the bigger clutch,and also to have more clutch options.

 

yes, all of the 1989-1991 d-series input shafts are interchangeable. The 1988's have a different spline pattern. I haven't researched the b-series trannies, but im pretty much positive that those are also interchangeable for any b18, b16, etc etc.

 

i know the 88 are differnt.i'm trying to take the 88 shaft out and put in a 90 is this possible?

I am almost a 100% postive you can interchange the input shafts of the L-3 trannys, I have a 89 SI shaft on my 90dx tranny.

thanks abaz-i almost postive they will work also i have checked all the part numbers of the poarts that go one them such as the bearings and gears and what not.so it should work.i'm gonna try it and i will post the results.

 

the 88 maybe different do to the 21 sline tranny i dunno if teh input shaft would be 21 sline but u may run into problems
