My brother's 98 GS-R got stolen on February 27th. It was recovered this week, and I went to go look at it at the salvage yard it was at. They stole the engine, tranny, ECU (and all the ingredients necessary for a swap), and wheels, but not much else. The car was in good condition, and he might get in the neighborhood of 12 grand for it...would it be worth it to buy the car as it is now for $400-$900 and put in another engine? I've done a swap on my CRX, and I assume the GS-R will be much easier since there are no custom mounts required and you can get everything for a 98 GS-R, but would it be worth it to do so?
