Which coilovers will dump the shlt out of my GF's newer gen lude?
So my GF wants to go lower on her 2000 lude. I haven't had any luck searching through threads to see what can hammer this **** to the ground. I have seen a local (san diego) lude pretty damn dumped, almost to the rim, so I know its possible. Oh yea, everything is stock.
Please, no lectures on how crappy the ride will be, blah blah.

You want to dump it to the ground and don't have any qualms about the ride? Just cut the springs. No coilover system will "dump the shlt" out of the Prelude.

I have some skunk springs and I cut 2 coils. I was afraid there won't be an easy solution for dumping a prelude.
hahaha.

You can go really low with the Skunk 2 coilovers. I have Koni/GC, and on the lowest perch setting on the Koni, and the lowest thread setting on the GC, I can get rougly a little lower than -2 finger gap. This is for a 4th gen Prelude and with 215/40/17 tires.

Hahaha, I would never buy $35 coilovers.

yea i have a 98 prelude w/18" racingharts and tein ss coilovers. The ride is dropped pretty mean, so I would suggest those. the ride is so low that within 2 days of me putting my greddy evo 2 on , the rear flange got cause on something and bent....had to get a str8 pipe there
hope thats evidence of the lowness of my ride

My GC (350F/400R)and Koni SP3 combo did well for me.
at this setting I could have gone another inch or so lower still on the coilover.
(mind you, this is on 17's with 40 series tires so a 16 will sit lower).

i had skunk2's. they got the back pretty low. but like you, i want my car slammed, so im on neuspeed race that are pretty old so they are sagging. and im runnin 205-45-16. my front wheels tuck all the way to the rim almost. i cant even get the stock jack under the jack point without having someone lift up on my fenderwell. ill try to take pics 2m.
I have Ground Controls. I keep the ride height arround stock to -.5" But they can be dropped arround -3" i think?

GC's/Koni's on lowest perch:

Stiff ride on 35 series tires on 18" rims, but love S-turns @ hi-speed!
I ditched my Skunk2's for GroundControl.

must be nice living on flatland.. come to texas down south.. see how long your under carraiges last. If you really dont care about ride quality and dont want to be limited to freeway type situations, do a custom air bag system.. just slame frame when you want to, or when you see a dead animal or a TEXAS road... pop em up.
Other than that, TEIN SS.

Yea, I agree they did do that in the old days.....nowadays it doesn't seem that worth it as coil over systems and springs are made better (I'm assuming), so why not use $35.00 springs, I don't see the difference in quality in the ride, they will both suck.
And he welded the diff on his 4x4's

Ah yes, the famous CUT YOUR SPRINGS argument.
I have cut springs on a lot of cars I have owned, don't regret it at all.
Speaking about welding, I cut and welded my axles on my civic/h22 swap. shlt worked out wonderfully. ran 15 times a day twice running 11s. didn't even break.

I guess there is a right way and a wrong way to cut your springs and I guess it might make a difference to what brand of springs you have but I have heard nothing but bad from it.
If you have done it successfully, then props to you
I didn't think it could be done.

You need to find a set of Tanabe Sustec Pro-Street Coilover(Version 1) dut. Here are two pics of my car. The set I'm running on came from a 5th Gen lude. Same product number, spring rates, yada yada.
