Brake booster adjustment
I searched , only 2 topics popped up with no answers. I installed my new booster in my '92 SI. Now I think it needs adjustment. My brake pedal is stiff as hell and does not move. My brakes drag , and I'm not exactly sure on how to do the adjusting. If anybody can explain how in "layman terms" , I would be greatfull. Thanks HT!
the "brake booster" in your car is vacuum controlled, there IS no adjusting, thats why. You can adjust the pedal to your liking. Its self explanitory, get under the dash, and theres a adjusting bolt, one way gets it closer to the firewall, the other way farther.
Are you sure its installed right? if its not "plugged in" to the manifold, then youd have a high idle, so that would be more noticable. but if its not hooked to the manifold (there is that rubber hose) then it would not be working, and youd get no assist, making braking hard (like when you hit the brakes when the engine is off).

The push rod that goes into the master cylinder is adjustable . Theres a star lock nut and an adjusting bolt. The valve and line are hooked up correctly. I'm gonna play with that some more.
Yes the booster push rod clearance is adjustable, but I have never seen the need to adjust it after changing master cylinders. Sounds like you installed a master cylinder from a car with ABS when you don't have an ABS car. Master cylinders from ABS and non-ABS cars are NOT interchangeable.

Then my father double checked everything and it'd fine. Thanks everybody for your input.
