Mr Gasket Metal Head Gasket
I've got a D16a6 and blew the seals in my crappy turbo, and blew out a set of rings in my #2 cylinder as a result. I rebuilt the motor about 800miles ago so I'm wondering if it's possible to salvage my expensive metal head gasket. I have already asked Mr.Gasket but haven't yet received a response. I help people when I can, so can sombody please help me this time. I am very concerned, if you couldn't already tell.
I heard you can but, also asked some mechanics and they all had varying opinions. I have searched this topic.

i wouldn't. to me it's one of those things; if it's been compressed, i believe that the sealing would be compromised on the next attempt...and on a boosted setup you need any advantage you can have with sealing.
full copper gaskets can be re-annealed i believe so they are good to go, but i think that the one you have is composite layers, so i dunno how they are after being compressed...
what you might want to do is...call Hella USA, the lighting company. Their product manager is named Brian Dumont and he used to work for Mr. Gasket. See if he knows or can refer you to someone who does.

Thanks fellas, I'll give Brian a call on Monday(tomorrow) and pick up some copper gasket sealant spray. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the gasket, the copper colored gromets holding the layers together aren't compressed and I can still tell the shape of where the gasket is raised/lowered. By the condition of the gasket, I would say it's fine and reusable but will reseal with the copper spray-just in case. Has anybody else got any suggestions?
