Alternator facts
I know there's a difference between the RS/GS/LS, GSR and Type-R alternators. I also know there's a difference between OBD1 & OBD2 alternators. My question is, what are the differences and is it really that big of a deal? I'm putting together a B18C1, and I was just wondering if I could use a GS alternator instead.
Same crap, just different sized pulley. I'm sure you can use the GS alternator, but I would have both GSR and GS belts there with you to confirm which one fits.
Actually, the pulleys are the same for base models & GSR. I know because I bought a pulley from honda for what I believe is a B16A alternator that I have (I was misinformed and told I was getting a GSR alternator), and it's the same part number for GS/RS/LS & GSR. The pulley doesn't fit the B16A alternator though...
I thought the connectors were different too, but from what some people have told me, I could run an OBD0 (let alone an OBD1) on an OBD2 system. There are a lot of myths out there, so that's why I created this post. Anybody know for sure?
