Best way to lay cyl. head so it doesnt warp?

Default Best way to lay cyl. head so it doesnt warp?

Hey I am pulling my cy. head right now and im gonna have to leave it off the block overnight, how should i sit/lay it so that it doesnt warp?

on top of a block of wood, exhaust side down is the way i was always taught.

you shouldn't have to many problems if its a climate controlled area and temp doesn't fluctuate too much. Putting it on a piece of wood is a good idea, although exhaust side down really isn't neccesary.

I had one sitting for over a year upright sitting on the cam gear, sold it and the guy installed it right away and was prefectly non-warped

on a large piece of glass. block side down. glass is flat. also the best way to tell if a head is warped. better than a straight edge.

uh how is that better than a straight edge? glass can bend you know.

that sumbitch wont warp just by sittin on a regular table or floor unless for some reason the temperature gets above 500 degrees F.

just dont put the valves flat on a table use 2 peices of wood on each end of the head and put it on a table with the valves down do they are not on the table
