Stuts on 98 Civic EX
How hard is it to do the Front struts & mounts on a 98 Civic. I just took my Car to the shop and they told me that the struts are shot on the front, and are starting to lose fluid, in turn making my front suspension to sag. Just wondering if this is something I could tackle myself or if I should just go ahead and have a shop do it.
with a helms, metric wrenchs and socket set, jack and jack stands, some metric allen wrenches, and some spring compressors it's very easy. Only a few hour project. I've only found it hard to change struts in hondas when the car has been driven up north or near the ocean and the bolts and nuts are rusted or coroded.
their a piece of cake, i used a bench vise and some hand vise to take the springs off but the second honda i lowered took me about 20 mins to do the complete front end, pretty simple
now the question is is this civic just your every day car or are you gunna upgrade, and since your **** is worn but still drivable id save cash for a while and just upgrade to a better suspension some full coil overs and you wont have to deal with takeing springs off and ****, the k sports, omni power, tein, buddy club and several others come with strut mounts and everything assembeled so it is a simple take your old stuff out and replace it, and youll be happier and many of those are 36 way adj.

sorry to keep botherin you with dumb questions but are the lower control arm on the rear easy enough to install also ? I want to try to do this all myself
Thx
Thx
umm youll run into the common honda problem, the rear shocks bolts are usaully froze/rusted tight in the lca bushings which youll have to grind/cut/torch off b ut with new lca's you can just unbolt your shock fromthe shock tower in the rear from within the trunk and then unbolt your lca's from the frame, im not sure if the omni powers give you the shock bolt or not, but its nothing you can find at a hardware store a 10 mm bolt and if you have to just take the shock in and find the bolt that threads in or ask the hardware peeps theyll know pretty easy if you dont have to mess with the lower shock bolts, lots of cussing and throwing of tools, lol
by the way, glad to help!!
