Default Preventing Theft

Hey there all, I've been hearing a lot about people getting their civics jacked and was wondering what you guys suggest as reasonably priced theft deterrents. I'm considering upgrading my Viper alarm, and installing a kill switch, but is there anything else besides hiding in my trunk with a bat that would help?

why would a theif with a tow truck need a steering wheel to steal you car?

I suggest a great theft insurance policy and two kill switches. One that's easy to find and one hidden well. It could possibly save you from some of the lesser intelligent theives but should a well organized one take a liking toward your car at least you'll get a check from the insurance company.

Not if you get Tekniq.

Get kill switches, lot's of them. Don't have a flashy car. Get a wheel boot if you're in a real bad area.

Bottom line: If they want it bad enough, they will get it.

not if the car is parked in a mall... most people don't know about tow trucks being responsible for stolen cars... they are thinking it's just another car parked in an illegal place...

now if they come in front of your garage and hook up your car the neighbors will get suspicous but in a mall, they will take it unless you're there to prevent it

get lo-jack, avg time is 36 minutes before they find your car. If they cant find your car you get a check for $1000. Most car theives take your car and leave it somewhere and check back within 24-48 hours, if its there, they take it, if not well you get the pic.

Kill switch, take ecu with you, steering wheel, loud alarm, etc.

Tow truck thieves are becoming more of a problem now because REPO men (most being really BIG BIG GUYS) have unmarked trucks who come and take cars like stated earlier in public places. I have personally witnessed a car being repo'd with the alarm blazing and cops really not giving a rat's @ss.

Get a basic alarm to scare away punk kids. Also dont be a dumbass and get liability only. Get a full coverage policy with aftermarket part coverage and relax. Theft deterants dont do ****.

get one of those wheel boots that locks up your wheel. so it gets nowhere. if they want it they will have trouble taking the boot out.

Here's what I had done when I drove my car on the street:

DEI Pager Alarm with the following:
Tilt Sensor
2 Interior High Pitched Sirens
Backup Battery
Backup Siren
Tied into power windows/power door locks
Integrated Dead Bolts tied into alarm as well
Ignition kill

7 kill switches not only for fuel
Removable Steering Wheel
Removable ECU Bracket
Padlock on hood
Locked rear hatch

Only drove to work where car was visible from my office
Did NOT drive to school (high risk) with my car. If I absolutely had to, I parked in the parking garage
Car is garage kept
Other car is in driveway, blocking it in.

I still worried about the car.
