will the EK reinforcement's for the rear sway bar work on a EJ (of same years)? I know kinda dumb question. But, are the rear ends of the EK and the EJ different?
beaks reinforement to me sucks, go search it up. you will find others will have part of their chassis ripped off because their reinforement part sucks. you should listen to 96CivicBoostCoupe
Correct me if i'm wrong, I believe the chassis ripped because it was doing it's job. It's not supposed to rip the rear chassis like that, but I have also heard this happening with other very stiif rear sway bars.
That is why i chose to use a 23mm ITR swaybar instead of using an aftermarket larger swaybar and use the ASR plate. Replacing the sub frame sucks!!! Its better to have a little lateral movement than the rear of your car on the ground. Besides I like OEM Honda swaybar

YES, 96-00 Civics all have the same rear subframe (the part that holds the frame to the suspension. Only difference is the EK9 (the Type-R in japan and europe) which uses the same mounting points, but its beefier, meant to take over a G, rather than the stock .8Gs (I think). But yea, Coupe, sedan, hatch, all same suspension geometry, even tho the hatch has a shorter bumper, the subframe is the same, just not the chassis part with the trunk.
Just by looking at them. ASR seems to be better choice hands down... but it's also pricier.
For the reinforcement kit, 22mm USDM ITR sway bar, and all needed hardware, ASR sells for ~$355 shipped (340+shipp), while Beaks is at $270 shipped.
If you have an Si, the Beaks kit is only $175 shipped... ASR doesn't seem to show an Si option (no endlinks required).
From what I've seen/heard, stock subframe + ITR bar is a 90+% chance for doom. Beaks is a lot less frequent with 1-2 people suffering a tear-out (that I know of), and ASR is at 0. Granted, the latter is a lot newer and Beaks has a LOT more users with minimal damage.
I will probably be going with the Beaks reinforcement kit myself.

i dont think a chasis's job is to get ripped.

Honda didnt design the EK chassis in 1995 for it to be modified with a sway bar THAT thick, they designed it to hold the suspension in place, and the 99-00 Si Sway bar thats 13mm is just fine where it doesnt overstress the subframe.
The Type-R Civic EK has a stronger subframe, put that one on, and I'm sure it will take a 23mm sway bar.
