Default b16a crx Car runs slower after mods??? tuning help possibly??

I have a b16a with a cai, full exhaust(no cat) vafc(not tuned) short shifter. My best time on the 1/4 mile was 15.00.... I wanted to get in the low 14's so I installed a vibrant header & skunk 2 stage 1 cams & now my car is in the LOW 15's my best time was 15.6. I did notice the loss in low end power on swapping the stock exhaust manifold.

I guess that the vafc has to be tuned, I plan on doing this my self with the a/f meter & bumping up fuel intake via the vafc. BUT does VTEC engagement has to be changed??

15.6 is not a LOW 15.

more of a MID/HIGH

I suggest tuning on a dyno and get some adjustable cam gears.

but if you think a header and a set of cams will knock a full second off...... think again.

you'll need about 40HP to knock a full second off, from my experience.

Sounds like you need more fuel. To know for sure you will need a wide band, if your going to a dyno then make sure they have one that you can use. In the mean time it shouldnt hurt anything if you richen the car up with your VAFC, in fact if its really lean you could be doing more harm if you do nothing. I would say start with about 5% richer across the board and see how it feels. You can also play with adding more fuel to the high fuel map (VTEC map). You wont know what will work until you try. When you think you have got a better setting try switching back to you old setup and see if it is infact better. Also dont forget that there is a possibility that something in the new parts you added isnt right, ie one of the cams might be out a tooth. Hope this helps
