Default Vtec engaging?

so i have a d16z6 and i can't even notice when the vtec kicks in. i've tested the solinoid with a test light, and the light comes on at like 5100 rpm however, i can't hear or feel anything and i'm running a header to straight pipe no cat, to ricy muffler. do you think there's a problem?

if you want to hear vtec, get a dual cam. if your motor doesn't fall on its face at the crossover, then its working.

That is why it is much louder.
