transmission cracks

Default transmission cracks

i recently pulled out my transmission. the case looks like it has cracks in some areas. it's not big, and there's no holes.. but u can def see stress marks.. is that anything to worry about?

post up some pics because when i had mine apart from when it was shipped from japan, it was just clutch dust attaching to casting flash. but it looked like cracks.

hmm, that may be it. let me post some pics tonight after i get off work.

off topic, but im lookin to buy a car for my sis. it's a 99 civic EX with 44k miles and the guy says he's changed the tranny with nothing less than 10w30 mobil one synthetic. WTFFFFF?

you can get away with that but in the colder climates i would switch it out for honda MTF
i use honda MTF only in any swap - build i do.

He should have been putting in 5w30 and I see NO point in the synthetic in the transmission. But it only takes 2 qts so why not?

Not at all 10w40 just isent meant for colder climates thats all. The warmer the enviroment the thicker oil you want to use.

you may have a difficult time getting it into some gears, usually first from a stop when it is cold out. but thats about it.
