how can you tell since i have never seen real ones just rotas?

 

Normally doesn't every rims have a stamp on the back.

 

get the weight from the seller, then ask someone who has real ones what the exact weight is

ripoffs are usually heavier

 

Spoon wheels, unlike rotas, have sharper edges and have a very matte (rough if you will) surface. Also, the little "indented part" inbetween the spokes of a spoon wheel is wider than a rota wheel.

 

spoon wheels weigh like 7.x lbs each. the rota's weigh almost twice as much.

 

I was going to say the same thing, see how much they weigh thats a major difference, and I know theres another major difference between the slip and the sw388 I can't remember the exact number, but I thought there was a stamp and also something on the outter part of the rim that u can tell... I could be wrong, but thats what I though....

 

real rims have desmond stickers

 

just drop the rim and see what happens

 

The real deal Spoons are hub centric. Rotas are not.

 

They have "Made in Russia" stamped on the back.

do they make 5 lug rota's slips??

cause if not then just check if its a 4 lug or 5

when the tire is off there is a sticker on the inside that says rota.... or spoon

 

on the rotas it has the jwb or jwl (or j something) logo ingraved on the spoke the spoon ones dont

the "JWL" means japan wheel licensing...

not on the spoke though.. i have seen the spoons and slips next to each other, also the spoon wheels are a flatter black than the slips

 

anyone have a pic of said spoon rims?
