o2 sensor needed on obd1?????
I have a p28 ecu and I'm putting in a test pipe that has no o2 bung. Will I need it even though I'm OBD1??? Or can I just tie the sensor up somewhere?

obd1 is one sensor, obd2 is 2. you can move the primary o2 up before the test pipe.

on obd2 cars, they are usually about 15" or so apart. both are close to the cat.

it doesn't really matter with a test pipe, as long as you have one.

an obd1 ecu only reads one, so you only need one. but the one o2 you have needs to be reading the exhaust gasses. it adjusts your a/f ratio as you drive. you would run incredibly rich if you just zip tied it up, and it would throw a cel.

Your car has (2) o2 sensors.
(1) is before the catalytic.
(1) is on the catalytic.
You are going to OBD1.
You only need the (1) before the catalytic.
Whatever you do with the other one is up to you, buddy.
Done.

If it's OBD1, it should be on the exhaust manifold, as far as I know.
