Default 92 Prelude needs engine.

hey everyone, i just came across this site and it looks like a good one. my girlfriend has a 92 prelude with no engine or tranny. i think it originally had a 2.3l with a 5 speed manual. so ive been looking around for those and have had no luck finding any. my question is, are there any other engines and trannys that will bolt in? i found some older dohc 2.0ls but dont know if they will fit or what? so if anyone has any info on what will fit these cars or whatever it would be appreciated.

im new to this import car stuff, i build old musclecars with v8s and have a new ford super duty with 20 inches of lift, so this is obviously a lot different. but i totally respect it and plan on learnin some stuff doing this. i am on other websites that help me with my car and truck and i hope this one can do the same, as im sure ill be asking a lot more questions down the road. thanks again.

any f series or h series motor will fit. the f series came in any accord newer then 92+ I believe( I know the earlier accords had f's but when did obd1 start) and any prelude newer then 92.

the prelude f22 has 135hp the h23 has 160 hp and the h22 has 200 hp. (roughly)
and the engines prices are in the same order.

you can always go to an importer for an entire swap. hmotors.com or osakajdmmotors.com places like that.

and welcome to the site.

Read what the VIN is. If it has BB2 (Si) in it...it had a 2.3L in it. It is has a sequence of BA8 (S)in it, it has a SOHC 2.2L.

If you are going to do the swap, do it right the first time. H22. H22's get as good gas mileage as the H23 and F22 engines, and the performance is well worth the extra price. I gained a clean 40whp going from the H23 to H22.

Good luck.

H22 is the most popular swap for preludes

I gained about 70HP from my swap and what a difference. Went from F22 to JDM H22. But keep in mind if you plan on turbo later you may want to go F22, F22b, or H23 What are your plans?
