Default How much power can the stock h22 valves/retainers take?

I am looking to make inbetween 300-400hp on a boosted h22 engine, should I look into changing the valves? or retainers?

Thanks

I'm make close to 500whp with stock cylinder head and valve train, so you should be fine.

power is not a factor in changing valve springs and retainers....rpm and camshaft specs determine that...

yeah rpm and lift determine whether or not your retainers will destroy. you should be fine.

im not sure on your terminology there...but a valve job (i think thats what you mean) is never a bad idea....esp for a turbo motor, up the flow a bit.....

What about the lower internals? How much can they take?

Can I reseat the original valves or will I have to buy new ones?

The bottom end AFAIK cannot be boosted above 7-8 PSI due to the weak sleeves?

Just get your block sleeved with Darton, Benson, GE sleeves and some forged pistons. I think you can go a little higher than 7-8 PSI on the stock rods but while you gotr everything apart its worthwhile buying some forged rods.

Ive got Darton Sleeves, CP pistons (9:0:1 compression), and Crower rods. ARP head bolts, and cometic head gasket. Hopefully that little lot wont give me any problems

weak ringlands on the pistons prevent anything higher then 7-8 lbs.

No need to cut new seats for the valves unless the current ones are damaged or excessivly worn. New seals are recommended after pulling head. Also have it checked for warpage and pressure tested. Make sure you loosen the head bolts in proper sequence in 3 steps.
