Default Ep3 Theft Protection

Okay I wanted to see what people are doing to protect their cars from theft, and if their is any type of demand for the EP3.

i have a 75# retired greyhound.

not much of a barker, but her speed and huge muscles and teeth seem to intimidate pretty well.

I was thinking the same thing -- I haven't even heard of a stolen EP since 2002 or 2003 (not that I pay very close attention, but still...).

Plus, nobody wants to steal 'em for their motors, either. That's a good thing about getting such bad press for the K20A3.

I feel that the underdog status of the ep3 wont last long. Demand for these parts will be high as prices come down and as options for swaps and aftermarket support increases even more. I hate to mention all this but its the cheapest means of getting a k series motor, even an n/a k20a3 is a very potent motor with the right parts. The tranny can be used for other swaps as well. 04-05's have 5 lug so there can be a market for that swap since the early ep's are 4-lug and even the rear discs can be fitted to older civic chassis'. Of course the seats are somewhat of a commodity, and then the slew of optional equipment parts or ctr parts that some of us might have on ours or even aftermarket parts.

Look at how many EG's are stolen, in stock form they really dont have anything special to offer but once modded you need to chain a pitbull to one. Ep3's offer more stock, and the aftermarket/optional oem & non-usdm parts on them will provide plenty of the wrong attention just like the EG's unfortunately.

Now would be a good time to beef up security because before we know it we may become very vulnerable.

Since i have a pretty large investment into my car i'll be installing a key lock kill-switch, this is just for the easing of my mind for the most part since.....

i agree... Honda's market only values more with age, and everyone knows that. As the new Civic SI is approaching, and more people (including myself) want to pick up a cheaper EP3 the demand will go up a bit. And Just as the older hatch's .. EP3's will be stolen too. I dont think in such a high number than EF's, EG's EK's because there are less EP3's on the road, but still something to watch out for.

I'm not too terribly worried as of right now. Especially with the new Si (FG) coming out, I think our car will be over shadowed once again. The most heavily stolen car last year was the 1998 Integra (and similar Integra year models).

The intention of this webpage is to provide all the information an average person needs to install a car alarm and several layers of security.

http://www.vsracing.net/~suspended/index.html

1. cover VIN
2. Club
3. Alarm
4. GPS tracking device
5. lock trunk release switch by the drivers door, thieves use a long rod/wire with hook on the end to release trunk and get in through back seats
6. hood locks
7. common sense
8. re-route hood release cable so its internal and can't be easily accessed
9. power door locks
10. fuel pump cut-off switch
11. starter kill switch
etc...
