will a y1 lsd bolt into a s1 tranny?
both cable tranny's... will this work? I would prefer to keep the s1 final drive gear, but want an lsd, and found one available, but its out of a y1.... can I put the s1 gear on the lsd and make it work without problems?
I'm almost positive you can. I only say that because I haven't done it myself, but from what I've seen any b16 LSD will work as long you as you use the b16 and coresponding ring gear for your final drive set-up it will be all good.
***edit, when concerning the cable tranny's and early hydro tranny's the b16 lsd's should have the same bolt pattern****

Unless the ring and pinion is the same on the LSD or you plan on changing it, I don't see how you can keep the same final drive just by changing the diff. If the ring and pinion is different (# of teeth) then the final drive won't be the same.

exactly... that way I can have a s1 tranny with high gearing with an lsd.... anyone done this before? also, how complicated would changing the diff be... I figure once the tranny is dropped, just take off the one part of the bell housing and leave all the other gears alone? I just wouldn't want to mess anything up and be out a tranny
search it, I know I've read posts of people doing it to the pre-92 trannies. I myself have an ITR in a YS1, took a little mod to the housing, but it's in there now. But from my knowledge as long as it's a B16 LSD (excluding CTR) the ring gear pattern will be the same.

is it a pretty much bolt-in swap then? I have been searching for similar swaps, and have seen some people had to use shimmy's for the lsd to sit right.... was that the case with you? and did you retain your S1 final drive gear? thanks!
just like everyone else posted, will most likely work, good luck putting it in haha
BTW dont mean to jack tread but what is a a1 tranny out of??
