why the whole dash?? is it that much different?? i thought that the only thing they changed in the dash from 96-98 and 99-00 was the heater and a/c controls... if that is the case and i think it is, why not just put that part into the car????

Nope ..... the middle is the only cosmetic difference.... and its a little darker ..... but behind the middle it wont match up to the 96-98 hvac system so you need to change all that ... so i just have the whole dash......

bone stock......... That dash is not really gonna make a difference thats why i said save ur money and time on that.... Money can be used for engine goodies.. Seats...Hood...Lips.... Headlights.... And a whole bunch of other stuff. Why not try and fit an integra dash in there... Then it would be different.

99 dash = Still stock...

Every one hating on this upgrade: It actually isn't just a cosmetic imrovement due to the fact that the 99+ heating and air conditioning controls aren't manual like the ones on the 96-98. This allows you to more precisely control the system.

VTECTC HB: Just get a helms or a chilton and use the wiring schematic from the 99+ to wire everything up. You will have to "rig" up a few wires that aren't currently their but if you compare the 96-98 schematic to the 99+ you will be able to tell what to do. It is actually pretty easy I helped a friend do it and I think it will be my next mod.

ok message boards are made to bring us together to help do stuff not to argue .... if you dont like people spending money on stuff you wouldn't then make a mental note, because i didn't ask if you think it should be done / if its worth the money .... i asked if anyone did it or knows a good website .... and you dont .. so go somewhere else

.... i know for sure you need to swap out all the black plastic duct from behind the control module.... what we need to figure out is what harness to use ... because i have neither one .... so again if anyone has done this please let me know .... if anyone thinks i should not do it and use the money to buy something else.... i already have it .

Hey, I'm trying to do the same thing. I got the SI climate control and the wire harness behind it already. Do you know if I need the heater core?

Ok go ahead and waste money rich guy...

Even if I had all that money to play with I'd still spend it on some better stuff....

If u have all this money why not get a B18c5 instead of a B16a2??

damn i've been wanting to do this on our other car (97 EX coupe) because i hate how the radio is up top.. then the 2nd DIN slot is down below.. i've been looking into this upgrade also since i have an Alpine EQ (ERA-G320) id like to sit up top below my head unit.. instead of how it is rite now.. (head unit up top above HVAC controls..) then EQ down below by shifter and cup holder..

if you find any info on this.. let me know VTEXTCHB.. damn y didnt honda make it more like my teg.. or like all the other cars out there w/ dual stacked DIN's for the 96 and 97 Civics = (...

I did the 96 to 99 climate control conversion. It works..everything plugs right in..except for one thing. A/C..the 96-98 have a cable driven system while the 99+ have a digital..so it works cept the A/C..my 2 cents

so did you just give up your A/C? or did you find a way around this to make the new dash work w/ the a/c system in the 96/97? I really only want to swap the center console portion .. so that i can have my head unit and DSP/EQ unit double din stacked ... if i could get the 99+ console to work (and still have my a/c and everything. .that'd be great...

what are you guys talking about. I tried this myself already. It's a pain in the butt. And totally not worth it. First of all 96-98 is manual controls the 99 and up is electric. You will have to change the entire header core. It's not so simply as just swapping the climate dashes. Yes you can plug it up by them, you won't be able to adjust for hot or cold air. You have to take out the entire dash assembly and change the heater core to the 99 civic's or up. Another thing is the vent's don't even line up. I was going to do this coz i have all the parts. But you know what. It's not worth it.

yes if you want it to work you have to swap out the heater core and such ..... anyone know anything about the wires??? .... i dont have my 97 heater core in there now so to me it is worth it because there is nothing in there and i have no a/c so i might as well go for the new look plus it functions alot better for radio and such ...... if anyone knows about the wires let me know ... 97 wires or 99 wires for the heater core set up ???/

Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know how to permanately change the dash color from grey to black? I have a 97 hatch and the thing that bugs me the most is the boring grey color. I have heard that painting the dash is no good because it will eventually chip, is there a dye available that will soak through the vinyl for a more permanent change?

Someone said the best way to do it is to sand it down real good-Primer it up real smooth and put 2 coats of color and and 1 or 2 coats of clear- thats what some said - but i have never tried it ..... 2000 dash is darker than 97 dash...
